Having a toddler can feel like living with a tiny revolutionary—full of fierce opinions, endless curiosity, and an urgent desire to do it all themselves in a world built for adults.
As a longtime Montessori teacher and preschool owner, I have spent decades creating environments where toddlers thrive: spaces where their independence is supported, their dignity honored, and their days flow more peacefully.
As a consultant, I bring that same intentional design and child-centered philosophy into the homes of families. If your toddler’s favorite phrase is “Let me do it myself!” but you’re not sure how to actually make that possible — I’ll help you design a space that meets their needs and brings more peace to your daily routine.
Dr. Maria Montessori was an Italian physician and educator who believed that when a child’s environment is carefully prepared—with child-sized furniture, hands-on practical life work, and self-correcting tools—they naturally grow in independence, confidence, and joy. It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to bring her method to life in my preschool classrooms and to witness, day after day, how children blossom when given the chance to do things for themselves. For years, parents have asked me the same question:
“Why is my child so independent and well-behaved at school — but whiny and controlling at home?”
And I always tell them the same thing:
"It’s not me—it’s the environment!"
Dr. Montessori said it best:
“We must help the child to act, will and think for himself. This is the art of serving the spirit.”
When children can reach their own dishes, pour their own water, prepare their own snacks, choose their own books, make their own bed, and put away their toys and clothes with ease, everything changes. They feel empowered, respected, and capable. And as a delightful bonus? They’re more cooperative, calmer, and more joyful.

If you think you might be interested in creating a Montessori space in your home, our first step would be a visit in your home, where I meet your child, and talk with you about your specific space, goals, and daily routines.
If it feels like a good fit, I’ll create a personalized Montessori-inspired environment plan tailored to your space, your style, and your child’s developmental needs. Want to turn that old wine fridge into a toddler-accessible snack station? Dreaming of a mud kitchen to transform your backyard hose into a haven for sensory play and gardening? Dealing with daily power struggles in your morning routine before school — whether it's getting dressed or getting out the door? Simply hoping to bring more beauty and order to your child’s bedroom? I’d be delighted to bring your Montessori vision to life—grounded in years of joyful trial and error alongside curious, capable little hands.
I will set up the space for you, on a timeline that works for your family. I’ll source trusted furniture, tools, and simple materials—or work with what you already have—and for custom pieces, I can coordinate with reliable artisans and carpenters I have collaborated with through my years of designing Montessori classrooms.
I am available to return for hands-on morning visits to help your child explore their new space and ease into their flow—and to guide you in how to support their growing independence with ease and joy. My goal is tangible results for you and your child, so if you are not happy with any aspect of the design, we can work together to make it right.
I am a Montessori-credentialed educator, preschool owner, and home consultant with decades of experience in early childhood development. I help families turn toddler chaos into calm, one low shelf and tiny pitcher at a time. I live in Los Angeles with my husband, our sweet son, and our German Shepherd, who — despite my Montessori attempts — is rather treat-motivated.
At Maison Montessori, I believe interior design is a collaborative process. I work closely with my clients to understand their needs and preferences, and strive to create spaces that are both beautiful and functional.

Not at all. Whether you’ve read every Maria Montessori book or just want your toddler to stop throwing their water cup across the kitchen, you’re welcome here. My goal is to meet your family where you are and help you create a space that reflects your child’s needs and your family’s lifestyle.
You absolutely can! Part of what makes the Montessori method so beautiful is that it is accessible to everyone.
However, it can also be time-consuming and full of trial and error if you’re just starting out. I bring decades of experience working with young children, so I know what works (and what doesn’t) at each developmental stage.
I can assure you I have made many design mistakes so you don’t have to. Ask me about the adorable but utterly useless “kid-sized” chair that no toddler could ever get out of. Or the open shelving unit that looked perfect online but was too deep for little hands to access anything safely. Or the miniature kitchen tools that were cute on Pinterest but couldn’t cut a banana, let alone build real skills. Or the stunning wood climbing course from Etsy that blistered in the sun after six months. So, if it’s not purposeful, usable, reliable, and empowering for your child, it doesn’t make the cut.
Whether you need a full transformation or just a guiding hand, I’m here to help you.
Most interior designers—even those who specialize in children's spaces—aren’t designing for the child. Shelves are often too high, books are out of reach, and the art is hung at adult eye level where little ones can’t even enjoy it.
A Montessori approach creates a space from the child’s perspective—accessible, purposeful, and empowering—so they can move through their day with more calm, more confidence, and fewer power struggles.
Our Full Package, including follow-up visits with your child, is $700 – $1,500, depending on scope and size of space. The cost of furniture, materials, or custom pieces is not included.
À la carte services (e.g. consultation, design plan, sourcing only) are available as requested.
Note: I intentionally keep pricing flexible for families who may need a sliding scale. Please do not hesitate to reach out—we can find a plan that works for you.
